Waconda Lake
Waconda Lake, Glen Elder Dam and Glen Elder State Park are located adjacent to U.S. Highway 24 and less than half mile west of Glen Elder, and just east of Cawker City, Kansas, offers some of the best outdoor recreation, fishing, hunting and camping that Kansas offers.
One of the Kansas' premier hunting and fishing locations, the Glen Elder Wildlife Area consists of 13,000 land acres surrounding all sides of the lake and 12,586 water acres. There are also many 1000s of acres dedicated to public walk-in hunting on other properties. Several boat ramp access points are available.
Waconda Lake services 21,000 acres of valley lands for irrigation and provides substantial municipal water supply, flood control, and pollution abatement benefits.
